We will start the day off in
Germany. The Ifo institute released their survey which measure the business
climate in Europe’s most prosperous country. They are three components to the
report, economic sentiment, current conditions and business expectations. Below
is the actual numbers versus consensus for each component:

Current Conditions: 110.1 Vs

Over in the UK, second quarter
GDP grew 60bps on a quarter over quarter basis and 140bps on a yearly basis.
On the domestic front durable
goods orders in June were robust and unexpectedly high relative to Econoday’s
consensus on a monthly basis, 4.2% Vs 1.5%.
Jobless claims in the US were
slightly higher than consensus, 343k Vs 341k.
Japan’s consumer prices were
unchanged in June on a monthly basis.
