France started the economic
calendar off today with their Business Climate Indicator, which is a measure of
sentiment among French business leaders. July’s report came in slightly higher
than expected, 95 Vs 94.
Retail sales in Canada was better
than expected in May, 2.9% Vs 0.4%.
New Zealand trade surplus came in
much better than expected in June, NZ$414m Vs NZ$100m.
Japan’s trade deficit came in
higher than expected for June, Y$180.8bn Vs Y$163.
Consumer prices in Australia for
the second quarter came in slightly lower than expected on a quarterly basis,
40bps Vs 50bps.
China’s flash manufacturing PMI
for July contracted more than expected, 47.7 Vs 48.5.
